Redoing electric
Anyone ever redo electric in their house? What company did you use and how much did it cost? (You can FM me if you don't feel comfortable answering on here!)
DH & I are buying a house and we have aluminum wiring that is pigtailed and we are thinking about redoing the wiring...just trying to get an idea!

Re: Redoing electric
We rewired our entire house and replaced the box. WE had all aluminum as well. I paid the extra to get all new copper wiring instead of just pigtailing. I think at the time pigtailing was going to be about 4K and all new wiring 2x that. For me, it was worth the extra money for peace of mind and insurance purposes.
But we also had several extras added onto the job CAC installed, a new boiler (both which needed to be wired), and other fixtures installed throughout our house and outside.
Back in 2005, all of the above was $10K for our colonial. The price of copper has gone way up since then. At least doubled if not tripled.
