When to call the PED?
DS is 3 months old and just started daycare. Last night as I put him to bed, I noticed he sounded congested. He's been coughing here and there in his sleep and woke up at 3am to nurse (normally he STTN). I think he may be getting his first cold. I'm going to take his temp when I go wake him up. My instinct is telling me not to call the PED unless he has a fever or his cough/congestion gets worse. But he's my first so I'm doubting myself here. WWYD?

When to call the PED?
My DS got his first cold at 3.5 months and I didn't take him to the PED until it didn't seem to be going away. Unless DS had a fever I wouldn't call Ped right away....Mine said if he is playing and eating and seems otherwise normal then not to worry. Fever or change in boogies then call.

Re: When to call the PED?
Go with your gut - there were a bazillion times everyone insisted I needed to call the Ped, and I knew it wasn't necessary. Just as long as your not calling b/c you don't think it's necessary, and not b/c you 'don't want to be annoying' ......KWIM?

When to call the PED?
this exact thing hpapened to me last week. my 3 months old twins are in their first week of day care and my son started coughing and has congestion.
i gave it 2 days and still coughing- no fever or anything- and i took him to the ped.
they listened to his chest (it was clear) and checked his ears (clear) so its just a little cold and said that there is nothing really i can do for it and no meds they can give me.
i just spray his nose with saline and use the aspirator to suck out his nose every morning.
it was good going to the ped for peace of mind that it wasnt some bad thing- just a little cold.
bring the baby in is my advice.

Re: When to call the PED?
I would def call. He is still little and it won’t hurt to get him checked out. If there nothing wrong it will at least give you a peace of mind. However, with the whole whooping cough epidemic thing, I would call.

When to call the PED?
Thanks everyone! I checked in on him at daycare and he's still coughing a bit so I'm going to take him to the PED just for peace of mind. I have a feeling it's just a cold but if I don't go I think I'll end up worrying myself sick that it could be something more.
