1 hr glucose test tomorrow a.m.

They gave me the drink to have at home at 7am and told me to come at 8am to give blood.

He didnt give me any instructions though about what to eat or not eat and after what time? Anyone know what I should be doing?

I'm told it's not a fasting test but since it's that early you probably will be fasting. I was instructed to watch sweets a few days before the test and to eat a balanced diet. Pairing carbs with protein with each meal / snack.

If they didn't give u specific instructions, id just not eat anything AFTER u drink the drink.
doctors all seem to have different instructions about fasting prior. Mine doesnt make u fast prior. Id think if they wanted u to fast, they'd tell u. But if ur worried, give them a call or just skip bfast until after the test.

I'm doing mine next week at 26 weeks...my appointment is at 10 30 and I was told no eating 2 hours before but that I should have a light breakfast and that I should bring a snack for afterwards

Im NERVOUS! Ive been eating lowfat ice cream (skinny cow.. YUM) for a few days now. and a lot of fruit.

I was told to fast for 12 hours prior.

At the lab after I drank the orange drink they said I wasn't supposed to drink even water, and I accidentally did when I first woke up (to take meds) and again to wash the orange taste out of my mouth. But I passed.

Most 1hr test are non fasting but you should def check with your doc. My doc said to eat normally, there's not point in trying to fake out the test, you want it to be accurate. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Mine's tomorrow morning too! I have the drink at home and have to be there at 9:30. I'm going to drink it at 8:20 and get there early and tell them I drank it at 8:20 so I can get my blood drawn before my appointment time and not have to wait around too long (otherwise they want me to get there at 9 and wait a while).

Anyway, I was told no eating for 3 hours before it, and if you have to eat to keep to protein only. Since it's first thing in the morning, I'm just going to stop eating tonight. Water before the test is fine, but you're not supposed to drink or eat anything after you drink the stuff and you're also not supposed to go to the bathroom so I'd limit the fluids... at least for me, anything goes right through me.

Bring something you can eat right after they draw your blood so you don't feel woozy at all. I don't know how I'm going to feed my daughter and not eat in the morning. Ugh. Maybe I'll ask DH to help.

I think every office is different. Mine said eat a high protein meal, stay away from carbs and drink lots of water!

I was told to fast when I did my glucose test. They want to see your fasting numbers and then see how your body processes the influx of glucose into your system. I didn't eat anything after 8pm the night before my test. Good luck!!!!!
