My baby had surgery yesterday
And thank god everything looks positive right now. But yesterday was total hell for me. They told me to get there at 2:30 and since I live in the other side of the bridge and the weather was crazy, I gave myself extra time. I got there a little after 2:00. The surgeon got caught up in another surgery at another office and didn't wind up getting there until after 4:00. He comes and looks at Tasha's records and the results from her ultra sound and tells me that he diesnt really trust the ultrasound because uterine masses in a dog aren't very common and there's a good chance when he cuts her open that it may be worse then we're expecting. Surgery was supposed to take a half hour and wound up taking almost 2 hours. He removed her uterus and ovaries- her ovaries were completely cystic. But the large mass wasn't in her uterus, just like he suspected. He wound up having to do more digging to remove the mass. The upside, and really the only thing I care about, is that she made it out ok. I was able to see her and give her kisses. The downside is that it wound up costing $2700 for the longer surgery and additional masses that need biopsy.
He thinks she has a positive prognosis. He did want me that the mass was right next to the muscles that control urine and she may be incontinent, but he doesn't think that's likely. He also said that all of the body parts near the mass, like her liver, kidneys, colon, etc... Look clean, so he thinks the mass is benign, but we won't know for sure until the biopsy.

At least the surgery went well. I hope the results come back as benign and your pup is feeling better soon!
