Avalon Court Melville?

Anybody rent there or rented there in the past? Considering it as an option, but read a few of negative reviews online. Hoping for some more information, we'd be long term renters (3 years), but won't be using the school district (our kids are young).

Re: Avalon Court Melville?

My mom considered moving there until I read all of the horrible reviews online. They are endless. A few posters on here also FMed me their personal stories as well. All bad. Even though the apt was great she decided against it bc of all the awful reviews.

Yes. I was a poster who fm'ed you with another screen name. Avalon is evil! I actually constructed a bldg for them in NYC and then lived in one of their bldgs, not the one in Melville, but it was nothing but a nightmare and a friend of mine moved into another Avalon in the same town I lived in and she had the same nightmare experience. Unless you really love it and are dead set on it, ok, but I would never refer anyone there..ever. FM me if you want more info.

Thanks! Not dead set on it esp not after the reviews online. Having a hard time finding a decent rental. Hoping for some better luck soon.

Avalon Court Melville?

Friends of mine lived in the Melville Avalon for 1 yr in 2010. They were jerked around so much by the management co, it was ridiculous. I don't even remember half the problems they had. It took forever to get anything repaired. Plus, it was very expensive--you could rent a small house for what they spent on a 1 bedroom (plus loft).

Re: Avalon Court Melville?

We are looking in basically all of central Nassau. My husband is a fellow at LIJ and does a few months at NSLIJ Manhasset. I've looked for houses and apartments anywhere from New Hyde Park/Glen Oaks all the way to Woodbury. I don't want to go further west than Glen Oaks and ideally want to stay west of Woodbury, but obviously, as you can see by my most I'm willing to negotiate.

We have struck out because most rental houses I have seen either won't take a dog or are only short term rentals, we want something for three years. It seems like there are so many people renting houses they can't sell and want to either show the house by the end of the year lease to see if they can sell then. I do NOT want to move every year for three years.

The other reason I started considering Avalon was the money down on a rental that's listed by a broker is crazy. We are looking at spending no more than 3,000 which is 3,000 to the Real Estate Agent, 3,000 first month and 3,000 last month. Plus a security deposit which in our case is huge due to do the dog. While we have the money, if we can avoid putting 11,000 down I'd be a happy camper. Ugh, sorry I'm venting now.

Wow. Same experience here, but different Avalon. They are the nastiest, greediest management company ever. I thought they would be great b/c I worked with their development team building their bldgs and everyone was great, but their property management group was not the same people and put me thru the ringer.
