Babylon Village - what are the "perks"?
Thinking of buying here and just wondering if there are any perks to being in the village? (garbage, train parking, etc.) Thanks in advance!

Village Perks..
- train parking - pass for $35 a year. thats the biggest one for me. Otherwise $60 a month.
- babylon village schools are really good. Outside the village, you get west babylon which is still good I'm told.
- I believe if you have a boat (i dont) there are some marina/ docking privileges.
- The babylon village pool is really nice, its on the great south bay. You can only go if you are a village resident.
- I believe there is a particular beach that only bab village residents can go to.
I'm sure there are more. So there are perks that make up for that village tax :)

$40 for a beach pass for the season
overlook is bab residents only
cedar beach- is free - non-residents it's like $30 a day
personal the perk for me - is being able to walk to such cute shops and resturants!

Overlook is for Town of Babylon residents only, not Babylon village residents only - just to clarify.

The village itself! It's so beautiful at any season of the year. Argyle Park! There are so many great family businesses in the business district. Aside from the known bars, restaurants, there are bakeries, general stores, gift stores. There are businesses that cater to kids. There is family owned insurance agency, health store and also a Pharmacy and surgical supply store. There are so many great things about Babylon Village. Good Luck!

Re: Babylon Village - what are the "perks"?
Thanks for this post. My mom has lived in Babylon Village for over 5 years and takes the LIRR to the city everyday. After reading this post, I called her to ask her if she knew about the free parking because I know that she pays $3 a day in that lot near Argyle when she doesn't feel like walking the mile to the station and she had no clue!!! So now she's looking into it. Thanks!
