DH Business trip at 36 weeks?

My DH has a business trip to Mexico from 11/14-17 and Im due on 12/16.. would you let your DH go or no? Im just concerned because its not like he's in Chicago, he's all the way in Mexico with limited daily flights back to the US.

TIA for your opinions!

If it's not optional, than it is what it is, ya know? I'd stay off my feet when he was gone and keep my fingers crossed. If you are pregnant with your first odds are you will be fine, but it's definitely a risk. Do you have someone that would be a decent backup if need be? When I was due with my first my husband had a series of interviews across the country from 34-37 weeks. It wasn't optional. He wasn't out of the country, but far enough a way that it would have been risky. I think it all really depends on whether it's even optional and could he get out of it last minute if it seems like you are going to go early?

DH Business trip at 36 weeks?

DH had to go to Chicago for the day when I was around that point with my first. I was nervous but it wasn't that far. He went to El Paso a little earlier in my pregnancy which was a lot further (but, oddly, also just for the day).

If you have the baby early, will they be willing to cancel the trip so he's not leaving you home alone with the newborn? What if you go into labor while he's there? Will they send him back? First labors usually aren't that fast (mine was only 6.5 hours start to delivery, though) so you should have time. Do you have an appointment shortly before he's going so they can check your progress and he can make a last-minute decision about the trip?

It's a really tough decision to make in advance. Do you have other support around just in case he can't get back? Backup plans are good, but making any plans while waiting for baby are hard. They and your body have a mind of their own. Chat Icon Good luck with your decision!

DH Business trip at 36 weeks?

I totally understand where you are coming from with this. My DH has a required trip to Cali 12/10 and I'm due 12/15 with baby #1. Ultimately, if it was optional, I would probably ask he not go, even with it being scheduled around 36 wks. This whole pregnancy thing is just so unknown to me, I just don't think I'd be comfortable. I'm still praying DH can get out of his trip, but if not, at least he won't be gone more than 3 days. He'd leave the 9th and take the first flight home the 11th. Still nerve wracking though, Cali is far! Good luck!

My DH wouldn't go. I told him, if he needed to travel for work at any point, I didn't want him saying no because of me... but he didn't feel comfortable so he told work no anyway and made sure he would not have to do any traveling until a couple of weeks after the baby is born.
