I used a brace/ace bandage. If it makes you feel better, as soon as DS was born, it was gone!

It can't hurt the baby, but it could cause you permanent damage (although it is rare, it can happen). I would start wearing the brace all day. If you bought the brace without having it specially fitted, I would go see a doctor about that. I'd also see about PT to help. They can teach you some nerve glides and other exercises to do that may be able to help relieve some of the pressure and keep it from getting worse.
I know we've spoken about this before -- I just want you to be safe! You need to be able to function for all 3 of you!

I had it and wore a brace all day. It drove me crazy, and I was in a lot of pain. After I had my son it went away.

I had it a few years ago (pre pregnancy) so badly I ended up having surgery on both hands (since it wasn't pregnancy related I was told it won't go away it will only get worse)...so you're at least lucky to know there is an end in sight. Def sleep with the braces and if you do computer work they make ones that you can wear while typing that won't interfere (fm if you want me to send you a pic of it), also try stretching...the "prayer stretch" (you can look it up online) Fm if you have any questions

I had it near the end of my last pregnancy and it lasted till almost 6 weeks pp. Good to know that for most people it goes away after giving birth. Feel better!

Re: anyone with carpal tunnel..
I had it with #1 really bad...even the brace did not help at all. Had it all day and all night. It didn't go away until about 6 weeks post partum. Now with #2 it is starting again It does not hurt the babies...it's from the swelling, not much you can do. Continue drinking lots of water. Feel better!!

Re: anyone with carpal tunnel..
I had it throughout my pregnancy and truthfully once the baby was born it got worse...much worse. I think maybe had I dealt with it when it started maybe it wouldnt have gotten tot he point that it is now.
I have a feeling that it is due to all the relaxin from the pregnancy combined with post partum picking up baby constantly.
In any case I finally have an appointment for a specialist. I wouldnt wait if I were you, I would just get it checked out. A lot of women get it though during pregnancy, so you are in good company

Re: anyone with carpal tunnel..
i had it really bad towards the end of my first pregnancy with dd. I would wake up in the middle of the night in pain and could not open my hand. My dh would massage them in the middle of the night. After my dd was born it went away slowly. I'm not looking forward to it again.
