*Updated* 3 hr gtt results and questions
So I was so upset that I didn't update before. I failed the 1 hr by quite a bit. I just took the 3hr test today. I see my dr tomorrow morning. Do you think I'll have results?
What are the next steps if I'm diagnosed?
What kind of extra monitoring will I need? More sonos? Fetal maternal medicine doc? endocrine doc? dietician etc?
*Update* So I convinced myself that I was going to be a diabetic. I figure when I get the news it would be more tolerable. I'm a nut, I know.
But turns out I passed. And with really good numbers, not just like borderline.
I thank all the ladies for your support and help. I wish you all a very healthy pregnancy and baby!!

I failed both the 1 hour and the 3 hour by less than 10 points with each.
If you end up failing the 3 hour, which you still might pass by the way, they usually have you meet with a dietician and talk about diet. You get a glucose meter and have to prick your finger and test your blood a certain amount of times a day. Every place seems to be different. My doctors is a bit different than most girls here (who i think use a place called madonna or perimadonna or something). Mine first had me sit through a nutrition class and a diabetes class. Then I had to prick 6 times a day (some people only have to prick 4 times a day). I also had to do ketones, which is testing your urine on a little stick each morning.
Then based on the results of those things, it depends what kind of care or things you'll need to do. You might need to do absolutely nothing (like me). Or you might need to change how you eat for the last trimester or add in more exercise. Or you might need medication.
The only extra monitoring I have received is now I get growth sonos every 2 weeks, which I don't really mind because I like hearing/seeing my DD and finding out how she is measuring.
good luck and it is upsetting to hear you failed and its a stressful thing but if you don't pass there are many of us going through the same thing right now and it will be ok! All this torture on us is just to make sure your LO receives the best medical care so that they are healthy.

Re: 3 hr gtt results and questions
for me.. i was initially sent to winthrop diabetes center, adn was testing my sugar 4 times a day- once in am, then 2 hours after every meal. We discussed nutrition, adn how to eat to better sustaain my sugar.
I am currently on medication for it, and am regularly monitored with growth sonos, and now biophysical profiles and nst testing 2 times week.. this is only if you are on insulin.. i take insulin twice daily0 at night and before breakfast.. i weekly am in discussion with my dietician who is monitoring my sugars- i go to to NSUH pregnancy adn diabetes center.. they are awesome.. i actually called them today to discuss some concerns.. dont worry.. if ever you have questions.. reach out.. you are not alone..

Re: 3 hr gtt results and questions
Usually the doctors office has the results the next day. For me it meant checking my blood sugar 4 times a day and seeing a nutritionist for diet. I controlled the majority of it with diet so only wound up on oral medication towards the very end.
I did have more sono's due to the GD and got one every week from 32 weeks on to measure the baby's growth. That is the one big plus to having GD, you know your getting to see you LO every week.
Good Luck and hopefully you pass! And if you have it know that there are lots of us out there who have done this and are here to help you with any questions you have.
