Disney Dining

I saw that the free dining dates for the remainder of 2012 were just released.

Can the experts explain why there is a blackout from October 3-October 19?

I found it odd considering this is the first year in at least 5 that there is no Halloween party on the Tuesday after Columbus Day.

So, any idea what's going on????????

I think Jersey week is during that time. Plus it's probably busier with the Halloween Parties

I just checked the dates for Jersey week and they are November dates.

I get that it's busier for Halloween, but this year they dropped one of the party dates AND have free dining blackout at the same time. It's making me Chat Icon .

Hmm, weird! I wonder! If you check in on October 2nd though, the dining is good for your entire trip. Just in case anyone didn't know that!

Re: Disney Dining

Actually Free Dining is blacked out for arrival dates between 10/5 and 10/18. I know, not much difference. I don't really know the reason for the changes. I would expect part of that to be blacked out just because of Columbus Day. Disney makes decisions about promotions based on occupancy. It may be that they already have a lot of bookings for those weeks. The Food and Wine Festival is VERY popular. I'm going October 13-20, and I found a lot of other DVC members and AP holders are going at that time. I'm doing a meetup that's up to 70 people. It's INSANE the number of people I have encountered who are going that week. I'm thinking they just already have a lot of rooms booked and don't need a promotion to drive people into those dates.

I don't know anything about why there is no MNSSHP on the 9th. I haven't compared it to past years, but I did look at the rest of the calendar to see if maybe there was an event closing another park early that week, but I don't see that at all.

Jersey week is always early November.

Another note - Free Dining for the week starting on 10/19 is almost completely sold out, so if you want that week, call ASAP. It's severely limited. A little bit of availability at the Values, NO moderates at all, except for the cabins, and only Club level or villas at the Deluxe level.

It looks like October is going to be crowded!
