Cruise in September?
Here's the background..
1. DH and I have NEVER been on a cruise 2. I'm slightly afraid of being in open ocean 3. DH gets motion sickness very easily (he can't play certain video games or watch certain movies because of it)
So.. are we crazy booking a 4 day cruise to the bahamas in early September considering it's hurricane season?

Cruise in September?
Honestly it's a crapshoot. You really won't know what the weather is like until pretty much the week you are going. I love cruises and have done this cruise before and had no issues but you just never know what the weather will be like. When I cruised out of NY in hurricane season, I did get a little motion sickness (just dizzy and a little nausea but nothing crazy). Sea bands and non-drowsy drammamine worked great. Out of Florida, which is what I'm assuming this cruise is out of, the water is a bit calmer. But again, that will all depend on the weather. If there is a hurricane, they will divert the cruise but it won't be cancelled.

This exactly.
Though I will say while you can't see land from the ship, it's nowhere NEAR open ocean. The cruises from NY especially tend to hug the coastline.
And this is why I won't go on a Transatlantic cruise- that's for REAL open ocean.

We'd be leaving from Florida. All I know is if god-forbid something happens I don't want to be waiting around for someone to reach us or get to land. lol

If you're only going to the Bahamas from Florida it shouldn't be too bad, it's a short ride. My advice would be to get a room as close to the middle of the ship as possible - it moves the least.
