Odd Compliments
I have been getting lots of compliments lately (very much appreciated as I am 35 weeks today and feeling very crappy). But DH and I always laugh at how odd these compliments are, I mean some of them seem so backhanded. Here are the most recent ones I have received this week:
"No one should look that good pregnant. It's just not fair."
"Your wife looks really pretty pregnant. And I mean that, because, usually I find pregnant people disgusting!"
(as an added bonus: there was another pregnant woman on line right behind DH who could probably hear this conversation clearly)
"You're 8 months pregnant? It looks like you stuffed half a basketball in your dress and called it a day. I hope I look as good as you when I'm pregnant."
"Your feet are so narrow. Normally pregnant feet are all large and swollen."
and my favorite- a conversation with the person ringing me up at the supermarket:
"You carry all in the front"
I respond "thank you"
"So you are having a boy, right?"
I respond "No, I'm having a little girl."
"Oh really? Well then did you fill out in the back too?"
I respond "No, not really" (I go to put a bag I just filled in the grocery cart)
"Oh, yes you did. You gained here (motioning to her butt and thighs)"
I respond "Um, I've always been big down there"
"No, no. You've gained there too. You've gained there too"

What the?? lol Especially that last one. How does she know where you gained ?? Anyway, with girls you carry out to the sides more, not in your ass and thighs  Gotta love uninformed, unsolicited comments from complete morons.

Lmao!!! When I showed up to be induced with dc #1, the receptionist thought I was in preterm labor because I carried so small. Being i'm starting to show already at 12 weeks this time, my mom says to me, "don't worry that won't be an issue this time. I'm sure you will be huge by then." Thanks, mom!
