scaitic pain? or something else?
i have this horrible pain on my right side, kind of in the upper-middle butt cheek area originally, i thought maybe i tweeked/pulled a muscle somehow - but i've pulled muscles before, and usually they tend to get better. it's been close to 2 weeks now and some days the pain seems worse. i find myself waddling when i walk because of it, and i have to pull myself out of the car or out of bed etc because it hurts so bad. sometimes i'm afraid to move because i know it's going to twinge. it doesn't radiate down my leg like i'd think normal sciatica would - but i don't know what else it could be. last night i slept with my snoogle and felt so much better this morning, but by mid-day it was back in full effect. any ideas? advice?

Re: scaitic pain? or something else?
I have the same thing, left side, started about a week ago or so , I had a terrible pelvic/groin/pubic bone pain for weeks, then one day it went away and I started having this pain. It hurts when I lift my leg too. The pain is unbearable sometimes, some days I feel fine when I first wake up but by midday it starts hurting more and more and gets worse toward the end of the day. I googled this type of pain and sounds like "posterior pelvic pain" but what do I know, not much you can do, just relax , take tylenol when it hurts bad , sleep with a pillow between your legs and try to sleep on your left side. I also read some exercises are good, like getting on all fours, elbows on the floor, head toward the floor putting more pressure on your back area and gently rock side to side, back and forth, haven't tried them but I read people say it helps. going to see my OB tomorrow , I'll ask but I know he is going to say what I already know...

Re: scaitic pain? or something else?
Sounds like sciatic pain. It sucks! I saw a chiropractor for mine & he didn't do any adjustments, just had me lay on my back with wedges strategically placed on my low back & buttocks.
It was very uncomfortable and did provide some relief, but it was temporary.
This pregnancy I have it bad. Some days worse than others. I've just managed to deal with it & know it'll end eventually. And if it continues after delivery, I can goto a chiro for adjustments.
Good luck!!!

Definitely sounds like sciatica. I had something very similar just in my butt and asked at my last appointment and my ob called it that. I sleep with a pillow between my legs (and another under my belly) and it does seem to help. I try to stretch too and I ask my husband to give me "butt massages" lol but it does help! Feel better!

Re: scaitic pain? or something else?
I called my regular dr yesterday, he said if it doesn't radiate toward your leg it's not Sciatica , he said it could be a posterior pelvic pain or lumbar pain both very common in pregnancy , but when I described him my symptoms in detail he said most likely posterior Pelvic pain . I will ask my OB this afternoon too.

Ugh! I've had this on and off since 15 weeks, mostly at night when I'm trying to sleep. When I asked my dr. about it, he said it could either be sciatica or just the baby pushing on a nerve. He said unfortunately there isn't much you can do for it. I definitely sympathize with you!

ugh, i was really hoping for a pulled muscle - at least then there would be a light at the end of the much shorter tunnel i feel for anyone who is dealing with this pain too
