taking me off the mortgage???
we are looking to refinance our mortgage.... I am currently unemployed, looks like we can get better rates if I am off the mortgage.
Please talk to me about this, should I NOT come off the mortgage? If I do is there any harm?

taking me off the mortgage???
I'm a SAHM and not on our mortgage. There was no upside to putting me on there. Also, god forbid something happen to DH, I would be on the hook for the mortgage and no job to pay for it. Sure, life insurance would cover it, but I want to have the option to let the house go. One downside may be in a divorce situation. Since you guys were already married and you affirmatively took the steps to come off the mortgage, he maybe could argue that the house is solely his and you get none of the proceeds in the settlement. But that's just a guess, I don't know for sure.

taking me off the mortgage???
The deed is the important part, if you're on the deed then it doesn't matter that you're not on the mortgage.

I don't think it is a big deal. As long as you are on the deed. I am not on the mortgage either.

Yup as long as you are on the deed, it's fine. I'm not on the mortgage but I am on the deed.
