1st Birthday/Christening party
I feel like the worst mom in the world Ds is going to be 1 Aug. 24th & we still didn't have him baptized. DH & I were thinking of having him baptized & having a Christening/ 1st birthday party. I like this idea because my mil lives in Arizona & will be here for his birthday. So she would also be able to celebrate his christening. I asked some family members & they all think it's a good idea. My questions are do you think this is a good idea? I was looking for invites. Do I make them more for a christening or birthday? Originally I wanted a mickey themed birthaday party but now I think that would be silly if it's also a christening party. Should I just decorate with mickey or just keep it neutral? Any ideas?

I think it's a great idea. My cousin is doing this for his daughter this August. I say go for the Mickey theme...you only turn one once

Re: 1st Birthday/Christening party
I'm doing this because of oot family members and out of state grandmother.
DS's theme is football.
Invite is double sided.
Front side is neutral cream colored baptism invite. Back side is football birthday party invite.
With the money we're saving from doing a joint party instead of two, I will be adding to his savings acct :)
Do what works best with your family and your timeline!!!

Re: 1st Birthday/Christening party
I did this exact thing for my son's birthday last year! I did the baby Mickey Mouse theme which is baby blue and I combined it with baby blue Baptism decorations. The favors were Hershey kisses and miniatures with labels that some said Charlie's birthday and others said Charlie's baptism. It was great! The invitations stated Charlies Baptism will be.... Then below I stated First Birthday party celebration to follow at .... If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck and have fun planning.
