Ques for those with a cleaning lady/service
Sorry so long --- A group of ladies cleans my house every other week. I stay home until they get here, then I take my kids and we go out for the day/afternoon -- they close up/lock the house when they're done. The last time they were here, I called the head lady to complain because they had left my front door unlocked (which they've never done before), broke a pocket door off its tracks, "forgot" to mop my floors...considering my house is mostly hardwood floors throughout -- it's the majority of the cleaning that needs to be done. They apologized and said it would never happen again, get a discount for next time, etc. WELL, yesterday my neighbor told me they've noticed some of the ladies climbing in my sons' bedroom windows. The head lady has never mentioned this to me and now I feel SUPER uncomfortable having them come to the house when I'm not here. DH wants me to call her and tell her not to come back , but I selfishly want one last cleaning session at the discounted price. (I'm cheap, I know). I was thinking I'll see how they do this week and I'll call her later this week to tell her we won't use them anymore. I know we need to stop using them - I could certainly use the money for other things -- just not sure HOW to let them go, KWIM? DH is worried they'll do something to our house or even break in if we let them go? Am I paranoid?
Edited to Add -- I've recommended these ladies to some other LIF people (in Huntington) -- I feel really bad about that. Thanks!

Climbing in your sons' bedroom windows? I wouldn't let them back in and I'd change the locks on my doors!

If you want that one last discounted cleaning still have them come and just stay there the entire time. I know it's awkward, I hate being there when our cleaning people come so I schedule them for days when DH works from home And then just cancel them afterwards. Tell them you had an unexpected expense come up and you can't afford it anymore. I "fired" two sets of cleaning people before find the people we use now and they never got upset, always just asked if there was anything they could do to change my mind and offered free cleanings but I just said no. I would be shocked if they broke in afterwards or tried to do something to your home. But if they have keys to lock up afterwards just change your locks if it will make you feel better.
GL!!!
When did she see them climbing in the windows? That's really INSANE.

WELL, yesterday my neighbor told me they've noticed some of the ladies climbing in my sons' bedroom windows.
Why were they climbing in your son's window? Were they scheduled to clean your house yesterday?

I assume they locked the front door and either forgot to lock the bedroom window or they forgot something in the house. Instead of calling me (I never really go more than 10min away when they're at my house), they found a ladder (must've been in their mini-van) and climbed in the bedroom window on the side. My neighbor said it was a few weeks ago, but he didnt think anything of it because he recognized the ladies and their mini-van, plus he watched them to see if they removed anything from the house (which they didn't). They've never had a key to the house so I don't think I'll need to change the locks but I'm concerned because they never mentioned any of this before.

Re: Ques for those with a cleaning lady/service
i would be very concerned that they thought that climbing into any window in the house was appropriate and that they didn't think to call you if there was any sort of problem there. That would lead me to question their judgment on any number of things! who knows what else they thought was 'ok' to do kwim?
i would rather not have people like that in my house and i don't think i would bother getting any more work done by them. I'm sure if you tell them that you thought it was really inappropriate and that they're lucky your neighbor didn't call the police on them, that is good enough reasons to stop using them.

I would schedule another cleaning and be at home (maybe DH can take the kids out of the house or schedule it during a time the kids are not home). Then, I would just call and let them know that you won't be needing cleaning services as you have to cut back on costs.
Climbing into the bedroom window is creepy! Even if they forgot something they should call you and ask to come back into your house. That is unprofessional. Wow!

I used to use Ana's crew.
They broke a few things and my ten year old kitchen table never had a scratch on it until they cleaned it. They used those awful wood pens (which didn't match) to cover them up. They also knicked the base of my china cabinet and a lot of spots in my baseboard.
I used them for a year and only continued after I went back to work because my DH was working from home the day they came. They were supposed to come to my house no later than 8:30 and clean in the morning so my DH could make sales calls after that. They never showed before 10 am and it impacted his work day.
Finally, I had enough. Since then I've heard a few other stories about them. Now I work over 50 hours a week, DH in the city, 2 kids and KILL myself cleaning my house but I've never found someone I could trust.
And why would your cleaning crew have a ladder in their van???

i dont think the ladder is odd (catherdral ceilings?) but to climb in a window is just nuts.
