Re: apartments in bellmore?
You might want to call or go to a few local real estate offices in Bellmore (assuming you are not trying to avoid a broker's fee).
I work in N. Bellmore - - we don't have anything right now that would meet your criteria, but I know a lot of the local offices keep rental listings exclusive (versus putting them on MLS). So they may have some inventory you haven't yet seen.
Do you care if it's N. Bellmore or S. Bellmore? I don't know what your budget is, but I know the Bellmore Gardens rental building on Jerusalem Ave has 2 bedrooms in the range of $1750/month (which includes heat and water); they are about 850-900 square feet, I think. It's an Eagle Rock building -- sometimes they put listings on MLS, but it may be worth a call to the management company to inquire about vacancies or soon-to-be vacancies.
It sounds like you may prefer a private residence instead of a building, since you want use of a yard space, but 2 bedrooms in homes around here are harder to come by. I see mostly 1 bedrooms, and sometimes 3 bedroom apartments (top of a hi ranch, for example). So talking ot the local real estate companies might be a good bet. If they hear of anything, they can let you know. I'll keep my eyes open, too.

Re: apartments in bellmore?
I use trulia, but I have yet to see any legal apartments or house rentals on there that are not listed by an agent (which means broker fee) BUT I'm not looking in Bellmore. Craigslist is the only place I've seen non brokered apartments.
