Surgery and kids reaction??

I am having back surgery (spinal fusion ) next Wednesday. DD is almost 3 and Ds is 2.5 months old. It's a big surgery and I will be in the hospital for 3-5 days after the surgery. When I come home I won't be able to do much especially unable to bend,lift,twist etc for anywhere from 2-3 months. I feel so sad that I won't be able to do much and I dont want the kids to think.I am abandoning.them or don't want to do stuff for them or with them. My mom is here from Florida staying with us to help because my Dh can't take off too much of work since he took off 3 weeks when I had ds. I think the infant will b different because I can talk n play with him. But what about my dd?? Any suggestions I can do to make the transition easier? O have explained to.her that the dr is going to fix mommy's "boo boo on my back and mommy will sleep at the hospital. also the dr can make mommy feel better ".

I would just be honest and say that the dr is helping to fix your back so you can feel better and figure out something that you can do with your DC when your feeling up to it to give your DC something to look foward to.
