for anyone who has seen Dr. Braverman

how long do you think the 1st appointment would take? DH and I are meeting with him this week, and we have another doctor's appointment afterwards, just trying to plan out our day. They told me the person who does the immunology tests won't be there that day so I will have to go back another day for that. For an 11AM appointment should I assume we'll be there for.....1 hour, 2 hours? I know this answer might vary but figured I'd ask since I don't know what he goes over in the 1st appointment, thanks!

My first appt with him (consulatation) was at 12 on a Sat and I didn't see him till about 1:10, we spoke for about 15 minutes.

He apologized, and knew I had been waiting long, but honestly his waits are pretty horrific, usually a min of 30-45 minutes.

IMO it was worth it because I got special tests no other Dr.'s did and I only ever left him because he stopped accepting insurance.

I would say it took over an hour easily for our actual appointment. I see him mainly in his manhattan office and the wait times are horrible. When i do see him in Woodbury its always early in the morning and hes pretty quick then.

sorry I should have mentioned, I'll be seeing him in the Woodbury office (I was tempted to make the appt in NYC since I work close to that office, but DH prefers LI).....good to know that the wait times are worse in NYC!

I've sat in waiting room in Woodbury for 2 hrs a few times.
First consult - we were probably in his office for maybe 20 mins.
But it's still worth it.

Also, I'll fm you soon.
Good luck!

I saw him in Woodbury. His wait times are pretty horrific (but he is worth it). With an 11 am appt, it's VERY possible/likely you won't see him till after 12. The consult itself could take anywhere from 20-60 min I'd say, depending on what you need to discuss, etc.

Good luck! Chat Icon

My first appt with him he had me waiting for over 3 hrs. The actual appt was about 45 mins.

My next appt the wait was 2 hrs. After that I left his practice because even when he was with me he would take phone calls from others.

My consult appointment was at 4:30pm, I think we waited 45 minutes and we sat in his office for well over an hour discussing my history and future testing/protocols.
The waits are usually long, but I didn't care - he ran tests other doctors told me I didn't need.

My first appt was our consult and that was about 1-1 1/2 hours. We had the last appt of the day. We saw him in his woodbury office and there were times where we waited quite a while to see him. But IMO it was worth it. He didn't makes us feel like just another patient. he took the time to answer all of our questions and made us feel very comfortable. I didn't mind the wait because i knew he was doing the same with his other patients and he was always very thorough.

Re: for anyone who has seen Dr. Braverman

I was a patient 3 yrs ago so things may have changed, but I'd say you need at least 2 hrs. We waited about 30min or so and then spoke with him for about an hour. Our appointment was followed up by a very detailed e-mail covering everything we spoke about since DH was not able to go and I had to go alone.

This makes me so so sad. He was the most attentive, thorough, involved Dr I have ever met. I knew when I "graduated" he was getting too big for his own good. It makes me so sad to think that people did not get to have the experience I had with him, he was such an amazing Dr every other Dr fails in comparison for me.

Re: for anyone who has seen Dr. Braverman

the office def has changed and the wait is not as bed

when we first started with him years ago i def waited 2 hrs at times

but the office has changed with the staff and the appts and the waits

now we waited no more than 20 min to a half hour

i would have waited forever bc he got us pregnant and kept us pregnant and if it not for him we would not be pregnant with Chat Icon Chat Icon

Just figured I'd chime in here. . I personally never mind if he answers a call or checks his email during an appt (which is RARE in the first place) because I know that when I'm the one emailing or calling, he responds right away! I agree that the wait could take a while (especially once you're commando on the exam table!! Chat Icon ) but I'd wait from now till November for that man because in my opinion, he's worth it.

I just graduated 3 weeks ago and the wait times were well worth the wait if youre getting the attention you deserve. Not once but four times, he called me while on vacation and one of those times i wasnt even his patient!
To the op, i usually block out 2 hours when i had appointments and i think my first appt with him was maybe a half hour. Gl!

I agree the wait times would have been worth it but he is not that attentive to everyone. When he takes moe calls during the time you are with him than he actually spends with you it's not worth. I'm glad people had great experiences but he doesn't treat everyone the same.

gotta chime in here too.

he was truly my hero. i still speak to him via email at least once a month. and despite the fact that i graduated from him in december of 2010, he still answers my emails within a few hours. no matter what. when i was in the hospital delivering at 33w from severe pre-eclampsia and HELLP (months after I graduated from him) i emailed him and he got back to me within a few minutes and was emailing back and forth confirming that everything the hospital staff was telling me was accurate and necessary. my own OB didn't even get back to me.

my first few cycles with him i had no infertility insurance coverage and he gave me almost all of the meds. the first appointment when he said i would be on injectables i cried sooo hard because i didnt think i would have the money for them, and he saved me thousands of dollars donating the meds that i needed for two full cycles until i had better insurance coverage.

when i saw him his practice was getting bigger and the waits were long for some people but i never really had that problem too often because i generally took the first appointment in the morning and on weekends whenever possible (irrelevant since it was years ago and he was still taking regular insurance back then).

however i have to say that i never ever once felt like he didnt give me the time i needed. he was absolutely more than accomodating. even the days he was backed up or packed or about to run out for something, he always ALWAYS gave me as much time and attention as i needed. and because i am one of those people who never remember what to ask when i am there, following my appointments he would email back and forth with me for HOURS. it got to the point where if i didnt email him after an appointment he would be surprised and actually checked in once because i didnt email!! its honestly hard for me to imagine him not giving anyone the time they deserve.

if that type of service means that sometimes he has to take someone elses phone call when hes in with me, i really dont have a problem with that, because i know that when its ME calling with that "can't wait" phone call, that he will prioritize it. i also know that when i am there for something basic like CD3 or monitoring early in a cycle, its ok if he is in and out pretty fast, since he probably has someone waiting for their first sono or has bleeding and needs and emergency sono or a repeat miscarriage consult waiting for him in the next room.

I'm glad I came back to read more responses because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr B and it was killing me to think he was not able to be as great as he is meant to be. I agree he is worth every second of waiting and he was always so attentive, calling on weekends, holidays, e-mailing at all hours. Can't say enough good things about him.
