Narrowing names down

DD is due on 7/18 ... so close

Isabella - this was on my list and the one DH really wants. It was originally on his list too. He did know it was popular at first like myself. Flow seems nice right now with our last name.

Elizabeth - on my list, not his. It is #11 on SSA so it is common ladies. There are also sooo many nicknames with this her actual name might get lost over time.

Avai - on both of our lists but in the end DH thinks it is too short. You might not get many nicknames which is good but might be boring like Anna.

We took off Francesca because of the whole Franki / Franny thing - I loathe both and made Frances the middle name to honor his deceased parents. I also like it as middle name because DS's middle name is Francis, not Frances as will be hers ... there will always be that connection even though she will probably marry some day and change her last name.

If I am torn between two, say Elizabeth and Isabella and DH I know prefers Isabella ( aka the Italian and Spanish variation of Elizabeth) do we just go with Isabella? His initial thought at Elizabeth was no. I feel I already knocked out Franchesca as a first name in honor of his mother, Frances. BTW: I also informed him of the rank on popularity list of Isabella and he said so, I was one of 3 and, I myself out of a HS class of 180 was one of 3 with my first name.

Wait to baby is born and she will tell you once you look at her.

I heard someone say when she is born you will know ... DH tells me well you have to know once she is born because you need to fill out the form for the birth cert. ... child can't leave hospital w/o a name.

You have 2 days before DD leaves the hospital - not like DD will be leaving 10 minutes after you have her.

I say wait until she is born and then pick between the 2 names. That is what we did with DD and I can't imagine her being the other name now.

I agree wait until she is born BUT if you want my opinion I like Isabella better.
Elizabeth is a beautiful classic name- but I do not know one Elizabeth that we call Elizabeth. They are all called by nicknames- if this is something you dont want to happen go with Isabella (but she might be called Issy or Bella).

Re: Narrowing names down

I am having a c-section next Tues and I am torn name wise too ~ I think I will wait until DD is born and when we look at her we will pick one.

We did the same thing with DS.

We are having a C-section too in two weeks. We had DS's name picked out a few weeks in advance. I just can't bear the pressure of deciding in the hospital.

Re: Narrowing names down

We had it narrowed down to two girls names with one very strong contender (Grace). And one boys name, we were team green. We wound up having a girl and going with our second name pick. We just new when we saw her. It took us 24 hours to fill out the paperwork and really start telling people, but we really knew right away. I say wait, you'll figure it out!

Re: Narrowing names down

both are nice names. cant go wrong with either one.

i prefer the nicknames for isabella over the nicknames for elizabeth, so i would choose isabella.
