Room temp & clothing at night?

We've had a good bedtime routine for months now, DS is a good sleeper...but my mom babysat the other night & seemed to think it's too much that we put him in a sleep & play w a cotton sleepsack over it. We keep his room at 73/74. He's also had a morning cough for 2 months that the ped says is nothing to worry about but not to keep the room too cool at night. Even so, is he overdressed? Can you share your LO's bedtime ensemble & room temp? TIA!

At that temp I don't think the sleep sack is necessary

Re: Room temp & clothing at night?

That is fairly warm to me. DS's ac is set at 70 and his room goes down to 68 sometimes. The cooler the better my dr said. He sleeps in fleece jammies now.

Re: Room temp & clothing at night?

My DS is 11 months. I have CAC at 73 or 74 and he is in footed PJs with no sleep sack. I put a light blanket on him but he kicks it off.

Same. I keep DD's ac on 68-70 and she sleeps in a onsie and cotton sleep and play. My ped told me to keep the temp around 68. I'd rather her be a little on the cooler side than over heat.

We keep the house at about 70. DD sleeps in 2 piece PJs - long pants and a short sleeve shirt. Blanket in the crib, but not on top of her and we keep her fan on. Her room is also the hottest in the house and the farthest from our wall unit AC.

Re: Room temp & clothing at night?

DS still sleeps in my room but he wears a sleep and play and a cotton swaddle me. I set the AC to 71 and use a ceiling fan and i pretty much freeze all night. I keep the door closed to my room so maybe that makes it colder than 71 but in the morning it's like an ice box. I think if i set my AC to 66-68, i'd need to sleep with a jacket on. Chat Icon

Re: Room temp & clothing at night?

wow, i guess i am keeping him way too warm! he's such a good sleeper and he wakes up w cold hands so i figured what we were doing was working, but maybe he's not as comfortable as i thought! don't want him feeling too warm, or to grow up feeling cold all the time like his momma!!

Same with DD.

Her air conditioner is usually set to about 70/71 degrees and she sleeps in the a t-shirt and shorts pj with a blanket. She sleeps much better when it's cooler so we keep her room cooler for her than the other rooms.

What you listed definitely sounds like too much clothes to me. DD is 15 moand her room fluctuates from 74-77 at night (with a ceiling fan on and AC but we don't keep it very low). She usually sleeps in a short sleeve t-shirt and shorts or onesie. I put her to sleep with a light knit blanket over her but I'm sure she quickly removes it. I have a cotton sleep sack but I think DD would be too warm with it.

I can't believe how low some of you keep your AC's but I guess temps must feel different in different homes.

DS is 5 months. His room is around 75 this time of year and he sleeps in a sleep n play with footies. If the temp goes higher then that (naps during day) I keep him in a short sleeved onesie.
