Advice Please on transitioning to toddler bed
My dd will be 19m next week. I am considering switching her crib to a toddler bed for a few reasons and would love to hear from btdt moms
So lately dd has not been wanting to go in her crib. She cries like crazy and won't lay down. She even fell asleep standing up resting her head on the railing of the crib lol. Also, she has a blankie that is attached to her hip. She needs it for comfort, for sleep, for the car etc. Well lately she has been throwing her blankie out of the crib and then crying for it. She does this so we have to come in her room to give it back to her. We let her cry once and didn't pick it up for her for over a half hour. Finally we gave up, handed it to her and she was sleeping in 30 seconds.
Do you think transitioning to a toddler bed may help these issue? Also I am a teacher and off for the summer so I would rather do this while I am off rather then when I have to be up at 5 am
If you think I should give it a try please please please give me any and all tips, suggestions, ideas to make this a smooth transition
Thank you so much

Re: Advice Please on transitioning to toddler bed
My gran ddaughter tried to climb out of her crib at 17 mos, my daughter immediately put her into a toddler bed. She LOVES it. No problems. She made sure her room was safe. Sometimes she'll get out of the bed and play or put some toys in her bed(my daughter only has soft toys/books in her room. When she' s ready she climbs into bed and falls asleep. At night she goes right in. Good luck.

Personally i wouldnt make the switch yet. I think its the age. At that age ds was torture to get to bed (and has always been a dream) it took 1-2 mOnths for him to get back to normal. Hes 25 m and still in crib until old enough or tries to climb out

Re: Advice Please on transitioning to toddler bed
I'd try switching. my dd is 13 months and i am thinking of trying her crib as a toddler bed because right now she is sleeping on the floor on an air mattress because she wont go to bed in her crib. She is sort of putting herself to sleep on the air mattress. I figure if it doesnt work i'll put the front back on the crib.

Re: Advice Please on transitioning to toddler bed
I decided to give it a shot. We read 2 book and I sat next to her until she was close to sleeping. She is sleeping now and we will see how the night goes. Fingers crossed lol. Thanks for the replies
