Pediatrician

We have definitely picked out our pediatrician based on various recommendations from close friends and relatives. Do I reach out to him at some point? I'm almost 32 weeks, so not sure what the right time frame is

Re: Pediatrician

I just called a pediatricians office yesterday (i am 32 weeks as well). i double checked that they were affiliated w/ the hospital that i deliver at. They said there is nothing really I am supposed to do except tell them at the hospital that we are using them as our pediatrician and to call them when we get our discharge papers.

Re: Pediatrician

I took personal recommendations into account first, then hospital affiliations (more important to me where they treat patients, not that they be affiliated with where I will deliver), then location/convenience.

That narrowed it down to two, with one having a slight edge. I called that one first, they answered any remaining questions I had, told me to call when I am discharged to make an appointment for the first 24-48 hours home (since they are not affiliated with the hospital I will be at) and I felt so good about them that I didn't even bother calling the second.

Some people do interviews and visit the offices but the strong personal recommendations I had trumped any need for that for us.

Re: Pediatrician

I met with the pediatrician when I was about 38 weeks or so. I didn't think it was essential because I also picked her based on recommendations. But - it was nice to know where the office was, what she looked like, what it felt like chatting with the doctor, etc., etc.
