Re: GD ladies come in
GD is stressful and upsetting. Some people get used to it and are OK with it. For me, I won't sugarcoat it- it STINKS. But there are many of us in the same boat as you, so never feel alone!!
For meals, the educators I have always recommend mixed meals, where you have protein and carb and dairy and vegetables and fruit all in one (or at least a few in one meal) because they counteract each other and slow down the glucose surge.
The only thing you should be having to drink is water. and lots of it.
Unfortunately for me, I already eat healthy and my meal numbers are not the problem. I have no idea how to control my fasting numbers.
But here are some meal and snack ideas:
Choices for Breakfasts and Lunches: -Greek Yogurt -Hummus with raw vegetables -Hummus on a 100% whole wheat or whole grain sandwich thin -Cottage Cheese with some fruit -Peanut Butter on a 100% whole wheat or whole grain sandwich thin -Egg Salad -Regular Salads
Choices for Dinners: Some sort of lean protein with lots of vegetables and possibly beans. add carbs, but try to have healthier more natural carbs, like- Squash (acorn, spaghetti, butternut) Sweet Potatoes Brown Rice Whole Wheat Pasta
Choices for Snacks: slices of cheese (with or without crackers) peanuts cashews raw vegetables protein or nut bars

Re: GD ladies come in
Awww, I'm sorry you have to join this club. But it's not the worst thing in the world and I'm on insulin too! So I test my blood 4x a day and 3x insulin shots! Think of it as a way to jump start your weight loss and a way of eating healthy. I'll give you a quickie on my meals:
Breakfast: FiberOne english muffin with either butter or cream cheese (tblsp) with decaf tea with a splash of 1%milk
Snack: Greek yogurt with a small handful of berries (blue and rasberries) or Healthy Grain Cream of Wheat with cinnimon and blueberries
Lunch: Egg salad on a multigrain flat bread, polly o string cheese, an apple with tbsp of PB
Snack: 18 RF Wheat Thins with either a babybell or laughing cow cheese wedge and sometimes I'll have a hard boiled egg white (no yolk)
Dinner: Cheeseburger with no bun, veggies and a 1/4 cup of rice or pasta, or seasoned pork chop. My newest and yummy creation is shrimp with Smart Taste (1 cup) angel hair pasta with garlic, oil, lil butter, parsley and broccoli. So yummy and fulling or a huge salad and a piece of fish or chicken
Snack: About a 1/4 cup of Vanilla Ice cream in these teeny tiny ice cream cones. My husband laughs at me, but at least I'm having an ice cream cone or some cheese and crackers
You'll learn to get creative and it's definitely a huge adjustment, but I keep telling myself it's not permanent and it's for my lil man
