we have our yard sprayed once a month by Long Island Tree Service. They use all organic spray.
We also have our deck lined with citronella torches.
DH and I sit in our yard almost every night. We haven't gotten bit yet this summer!

Take a real good look around your yard. Make sure there is no standing water anywhere, and nowhere very wet that mosquitoes can lay their eggs. It's free to do that, and if you can eliminate spawning areas in your yard, you'll at least minimize the mosquitoes. Then, you can go to the more proactive methods of getting rid of them.

We have a contract with them for the spring/summer/fall spraying. I think it comes to about $58 a spray for us. It's hard to remember since we usually sign up for it and pay for it in November (when the last spray happens). We get our first treatment towards the end of March/beginning of April. I know DH researched it and found them to be very reasonable.

Yes. That's it. I just dug out our contract for this year. We prepaid it back in October of 2011. The total with prepay discount was $488. For that we got a spring dormant spray, a mid spring active spray, a late spring active, 3 summer sprays and 2 fall sprays. DH said he thinks that if you do the sprays individually it's about $85 a spray.
We really love them. We NEVER get bit in our yard.

Thanks so much! We are having such a problem. I am definitely going to call them.

They sell foggers at Home Depot type stores. You can fog them before the party and then light those torches with citronella oil for the party.
I just bought stuff from Hicks that is natural. It comes in a spray or a granular. You put it outside an hour before you go out and it says it can keep them away for a few days to weeks.
