Re: Need suggestions- 2 week trip to California
Well one year with my family we flew to San Fran, toured Napa and San Fran, then (don't remember the order it was like 20 year ago) we went to Carmel, Monterey, LA, Disneyland, ended the trip with several days in San Diego. Basically we rented a car and drove down the coast and stopped at the major or interesting cities/towns on the way down. We went for a full 2 weeks. It was a nice relaxing pace. I would recommend it. We saw so much - and then ended the trip at a nice resort (the one that they modeled the Grand Floridian after at WDW). We flew home from San Diego. I would love to do this some day with my DH and girls.

San Francisco Napa Valley Drive down the Pacific Coast highway through Santa Cruz Monterey - do the Aquarium Carmel San Simeon - Hearst Castle San Luis Obispo Santa Barbara Los Angeles San Diego
Or, instead of doing PCH, you can drive south inland and hit Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks

Re: Need suggestions- 2 week trip to California
We just did this in June! We had a great time!! We flew into San Francisco. Stayed there for 2 days, rented car and drove to Monteray and Carmel. We slept there for 1 night. Then drove through Big Sur to Santa Barbara, slept there for 1 night, drove to laguna beach spent the night there and then back up to Los Angeles, stayed there for 2 nights! We had a great time! Went to alcatraz, union square, fishermans wharf, giardella square, walked the Golden Gate, aquarium in Monteray, shops and beach in Carmel, rented bikes in Santa Barbara and rode bikes down to the beach and state street, went to the beach in laguna and relaxed there and in la we went to Santa Monica pierre, Universal Studios. We have been to La before so didn't do the usual hollywood tourist stuff. We spent only 1 week there though. I would totally add in Napa and Hearst Castle because we couldn't fit it in. Let me know if you have any questions!

Did almost the same trip in the opposite direction - started in SanDiego. the hotel there is the Hotel Del Coronado -it's beautiful! I would also try to get to Hearst Castle - amazing!
