Inexpensive Road Trips in July? (Maybe Montauk?)
My bff's birthday is July 17th. I happen to have taken off that Monday and Tuesday so we have a four day weekend to celebrate. She wants to take a road trip somewhere. I'm game, but I don't have all that much cash to spend. She wants to really go for it and go somewhere like Myrtle Beach. I don't know if I can swing that, plus I really don't know much about Myrtle Beach so I don't know where to start pricing it out. I'd even be cool with just going to Montauk and spending the weekend at the beach, but once again, I don't know much about the area.
Anyway, I was wondering if you had any other suggestions about places to visit or places to stay! TIA!

What about Lake George or the Poconos?
We're doing Lake George in August and we're paying $155 a night

We actually just did Lake George last year. We went specifically so we could go to Adirondack Extreme, an adventure course with ziplines and ropes and stuff like that. It was really fun, but we wanted to do something more laid back and beachy. She also has said she wants to go somewhere she's never been before- hence Montauk or Myrtle Beach. I'd be fine with Lake George but she's a PITA!

You can do east end LI, Riverhead outlets, wineries, you can do Hampton bays and take her to the boardy barn Sunday. That's an experience all in itself. Lol
Montauk, there are cheap places to stay...a lot of the hotels are old and outdated but they have a bed, toilet and shower and really that is all you need ((most even have kitchenettes) there are cute restaurants and maybe like 5 good bars.
I would agree with the pp about Newport RI. My friend and I stayed in Warwick (cheaper) and drove to newport and the beaches fun road trip!
Let us know what you decide!
