Utilities in Owning A Home
Hi All -
What are the typical utilities that come with home ownership? We live in an apartment now, so the only things we have to pay for is cable/internet, the rest is covered in our maintenance.
Once we buy a house - what is normally part of the utilities (not considering cable/internet/etc) -- thinking more about water, gas, etc?
Also on average, how much do these come out to be?

Re: Utilities in Owning A Home
ours are:
cable/phone/internet: 97 a month water: 30-50 every 2 months (we have a private water company) gas: about 60/month (we have a gas washer/dryer) electric: about 100/month (electric stove)
other than that we maintain everything ourselves, so no cleaning lady/lawn care/snow removal/etc.
our home is 1200 sf

Re: Utilities in Owning A Home
electric: 80 gas: cooking & dryer 114 balanced billing (140 last year balance billing) water: 25-30 tel/cable/internet: 140
electric was 160 a month avg, but something happened, and for the last few months, it just dropped. i think it may have been a short in an appliance or something because we barely have 1100 sf - always thought thaw was a lot.

Re: Utilities in Owning A Home
Where I live I also pay $34 every three months to the Suffolk County Sewer Districts. It's not much but still another bill that has to be paid!

Re: Utilities in Owning A Home
We pay $142 a month electric with balanced billing We have oil not gas, so we just buy oil when we need it, mostly in the winter.
Water is roughly $15 every 3 months, but it's very cheap where I live...

Re: Utilities in Owning A Home
2200 sq ft house:
tel/internet/cable (we have a DVR & 3 boxes) $125/month
Water- about $45 every 3 months (I belive)
Electric- about $125/month
Alarm- $30/month
Oil- I wanna say we spent between $1800-$2000 this year in oil....filled up 3 times.
We have a gas stove and we spent like $100 on gas for the entire year... (although we only cook about 4 times/week- never home for breakfast/lunch)
