Re: gas cost?
you dont get gas in a tank unless you have propane but I have never know anyone to use propane for heat...just for cooking.
Gas is directly supplied by Keyspan to your house via underground pipe

It basically is like your electric bill. You just get one for the gas.

Yes, I get a monthly bill from Natl Grid. This time of year my gas bill is low (like $30/month) but in the winter it can be as high as $200/month when it's very cold out.

Re: gas cost?
You are billed monthly.
I am on balanced billing.
I just checked and last month I paid $111.00.
My Dec & Jan bill was $152.00
We have a small, 3 bedroom cape-style home on the South Shore.
I love having gas, especially when I see family and friends having to come up with thousands in one shot to fill their oil tank during the winer months.

you only pay $30 a month this time of a year?! Thats good
I currently rent a very small 2 bedroom house (think apratment shaped as a house ) and our gas bill when the heat is not running is probably between 60-80 a month. During the winter i don tink its ever gone over $170 but its rarely that close.
I do have a dryer that runs off gas so i am not sure if thats why mine is higher during non winter months compared to the PP.

That could be.... I don't have a gas dryer & only use the oven maybe once a week when I cook a bunch of stuff all together at once.
