New Orleans
Hi everyone!!
We're heading down to NOLA for 6 days for our first anniversary and I'm beyond excited! We're staying at a HAUNTED HOTEL and I'm beyond excited for that (I love ghosts and haunted stuff). We're definietly going to do a ghost tour and maybe a cemetary tour, but I wanted to ask:
1) What else should we see/do?
2) Anyone have restaurant recomendations? Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?
TIA!!!
SOOOOOO EXCITED!! Come on July 29th!

Re: New Orleans
I was there for work for a few days so didn't get to do too much...
but definitely go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets!
Also check out Lafittes Blacksmith Shop. Its the oldest bar in the country that's still in use and supposed to be haunted too! Go at night, the vibe is really cool. Have fun!

Lafitte's has the best hurricanes too, IMO - and I tried the hurricanes at MANY different places to compare with! Have a great time!

Re: New Orleans
I second ALL of the suggestions above!
I would also recommend the WWII museum. There is an incredible 4D movie that was really moving. DH and I went when it rained one day while we were there.
Also check out the Carousel Bar in Hotel Monteleone...it really moves!
You will like Lafittes - it's almost pitch black there at night!! I'm sure it's a little haunted.
Also go to Napoleon House and get a muffuletta sandwich and Pimm's Cup.
Eat at Commander's Palace in garden district - make a reservation.

The Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone is awesome!
The best Mufaletta IMO is at Cochon Butcher. Cochon is excellent for dinner as well.
My favorite restaurant in NO is Green Goddess - its a totally random, small spot but the food is to die for.
NOLA is the best eating restaurant in the country, IMO, no place like it!
I also love Cake Cafe and Commanders Palace brunch is awesome.

Yes and yes! Get the chargrilled oysters, lots of them hah. So amazing.
Also definately get a hurricane, I drank half of it and was good to go for the night.
It's a wonderful city to just be in - absolutely loved it. We got day tickets for the Trolley and just took one to all the main stops including Garden City which was so pretty.

Re: New Orleans
I love NOLA!! Try Desire Oyster Bar for lunch. Love it there. It's mentioned throughout Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches series...so that just adds to the places street cred for me!

Re: New Orleans
I went to college in New Orleans, you'll have a blast. Everyone has given a lot of suggestions already. Just remember it is VERY hot and humid down there at this time of year so if you blow dry your hair normally, don't bother. You will be very sticky but you will have an amazing time!
If it hasn't been said already, The Court of Two Sisters has a quintessential New Orleans Sunday brunch. I highly recommend it.
