Gas conversion
Does anyone know how much it costs per foot to bring a gas line to your house? I know National Grid covers the first 100 feet. Has anyone converted recently?

Re: Gas conversion
we converted over a year ago and i think it was $75 per foot
when we first called, we were told that the distance from our house to the closest line (2 houses away) was going to cost us $5,000. well, it seemed like way too much money and too big a distance, so we asked them to come measure again...dont you know that we were right. wound up costing us considerably less than their estimate

Re: Gas conversion
I don't remember when I got a quote. All I know is that it was down about 2 blocks and around a bend. Nobody near us has gas! They quoted me $19,800?!?!?! I wasn't about to pay them this amount of money (plus a plumber to install the new unit, etc.) just so they could send me a bill! It took them about a week to get the quote to me.

Re: Gas conversion
In my neighborhood a bunch of people down the street all converted together to they pulled the gas lines up for them because there were so many of them it was worth it.
For us we are lucky and the gas line was close so it was free to pull it to our house.
