Re: watching house hunters
Was that the one where the couple was moving from a no-dog condo building in FL (the poor dog was smuggled in and out of their unit and down the elevator in a box every day) to California. Because if so, those people were a bit... "unique" (aka straight up CRAZY)....and had issues way beyond bringing their dog to inappropriate places!
There was an article on the internet today about how House Hunters is staged (they film people looking at houses after they've already chosen a house and closed on it, that type of thing)... like BIG surprise, right? But I am assuming, given how it works, the dog people had the green light to bring the dog along.
I see a lot of things, but haven't encountered that situation yet. I am sure I will eventually, though!

Re: watching house hunters
It makes sense that they would be staged. I would find it hard to believe that every person picks 1 of 3 houses shown to them!

No it isnt that episode but i think i remember that! They were older right?!
I would not be surprised that this is all staged. I have a friend irl on a 'reality' show and he told me how it's staged to look like something that's 'spurof the moment' but its all pre planned

Re: watching house hunters
What kills me is the prices some of e houses go for and what they get compared to Long Island..
I was watching a House show earlier with a Nigerian couple shopping for a 3 bedroom/3bath home in California...gorgeous homes and all were under $350K.
You can't find a 3,000 sq feet 3 bedroom/3 bath house in LI for less than $500K!!!!

Its funny DH and i watched house Hunters all the time esp when we were selling and i always said these people never have a problem getting the house they liked either. I always found that funny.

Re: watching house hunters
House Hunters is definitely staged, but does anyone know if My First Place is? It seems like they are really making the deal right then and there (and i've seen some episodes where people end up not getting a house in the end) but you never know.

Re: watching house hunters
I know someone who was on Househunters International. She had already bought and was living in a house in the UK, the show paid for their whole house to be packed up and look uninhabited. They also paid for the couple to fly back to the states to stage a goodbye party for them, and then they looked around a bunch of houses including the house they already owned!

Re: watching house hunters
Was it in California? It is super dog friendly and they take their dogs into supermarkets and everywhere.
We contacted House Hunters when we were in CA and they said we had to have a signed contract.

I don't think it is - my SIL's coworker was on it and I think it was real - not like House Hunters which is totally not real. I saw on the news the other day that often times the other 2 houses (not the one that they already bought before taping the show) are not even for sale - they are just friend's houses that they let them use to film.
