baseboard trim & installing carpet Q
just thought i'd throw this out there for anyone that would know... we are getting new carpet installed in our basement, the carpet guy said to install the baseboard trim first before he comes. i asked him how high it should be off the ground and he said 1/8". However i'm reading online it should be 3/8", so not sure if 1/8" seems too low?

What type of carpet are you doing? I am assuming in the basement a thinner tight carpet?
if so,you can get away with 1/8" then. If you were doing a thicker, plusher carpet, like you would find in a bedroom I would recommend 3/8".
You want them to install the tack as close to the edge and they will then tuck the pad/carpet under the molding. With a basement carpet, he should be able to do that at 1/8" height.
If you are really unsure, then split the difference and do 1/4",
