Infertility - out of pocket expenses
I am losing my insurance that covers any infertility benefits. I had to do multiple IUI's with my son. I am wondering how much an IUI/injectable meds/sonograms cost per month? can anyone who has paid out of pocket give me an idea of monthly costs? TIA

Re: Infertility - out of pocket expenses
It depends if they cover the monitoring. That is what is so costly. If they don't its about $2000 a cycle.

Re: Infertility - out of pocket expenses
IUI's at my RE office are about $250 including the sperm wash at my OB's office they were $350.
Pills/Injections depending on what you are on can be as follows:Clomid 50mg tablets D3-D7 depending on insurance can be anywhere from your co-pay to $500.
Injectable meds (if your RE knows you dont have coverage) JUST ASK THEM FOR SOME MEDS but they can range depending on what you are on...THESE ARE APPROXIMATE since each pharmacy is different but this is about what I paid from Kruptner Pharmacy...i think...you can call and ask definite prices...
Leupron 2wk kit ($250), Hcg 10,000iu($195) trigger, follistim pen with 600iu cartridges ($500ech.) Progesterone ($125/box)x12
My office gave me some Menopur and Bravelle as well as a friend had some extra so Im not sure of the approx. prices on those.
OOP expense for meds for our cycles for IVF were about $4500. give or take.

I just know for the IUI alone, back in the day it was $450 each day.. so $900 for back to back... but that doesn't include the monitoring and drugs.

Re: Infertility - out of pocket expenses
Thanks everyone. I actually spoke with my RE today to get the numbers. The injectables are actually what scare me $$$$. The funny part is I donated ALL of my folistim to girls on here right after I got pregnant. I had such good insurance I had plenty of boxes left over! I guess I will be the one asking for donations next time around!
