Callus, Bunnion what is it?

I have been addicted to flats for the longest time and I think my feet are starting to show it. Let's see if I can explain what is going on. On the right side of foot, below the big toe, I am noticing what feels like a bone growing. It is not red, not peeling, does not hurt, it just looks awful.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

It's probably a bunion.

I'm having a problem with that area of my foot as well. A few years back I had a small break and my foot has never been the same.

Eventually some people get bunion surgery, depending on how bad their bunion gets.

It sounds like a bunion. I've had bunions forever. Some people have to get surgery (my mom) because they can grow and become painful.

Thanks for your responses. I was afraid that's what it is. Is there anything I can do to make it go away? First thing is I have to get new shoes that won't irritate that area, but the ones I see are not too cute.

Bunions are usually caused by a combo of things - genetics and shoes pinching. So, the trend of pointy-toed shoes never helped bunion sufferers. The key is to try to get a shoe with enough room in the front so as to not squeeze and pinch your feet. It doesn't sound like it's hurting you, so you should be fine. They do not shrink though, so I would just be more mindful of them.

Sounds like a bunion. I had 9 foot surgeries for bunions but that was because I was a ballerina. Does it feel like you need wider shoes to account for this change? Is it rubbing against your normal shoes and bothering you?

I don't feel any discomfort, expect when I where one particular pair of flats, which of course are my favorites. It does feel tight and rubs against that area which is now "enlarged". I was looking online and they sell these gel pads with a toe spacer, would this help? The thing is that my toe is not bending towards the others.
