Would this bother you?
Got a get well card for my episode of OHSS (which by the way was just a horrible experience - I am sorry for anyone here that went through that) and the card was "signed" by this person's unborn child - Baby "lastname". That's my last name too and I was so stunned and hurt to receive a card like that under the circumstances.
Would that bother you? I know how you ladies say that people don't get what IF is like but this seemed like a little more than not getting it.

Wow! What kind of relationship do you have with this person? If your close, I'd hope it was just extreme not thinking logically but I don't know that's just beyond stupid.

Wow that's such an insensitive thing for anyone to do, especially a family member.

Sorry to crash....do you think maybe she meant from your future child? Either way it is incredibly insensitive and it should be addressed. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this on top of your OHSS. I hope you are feeling better!

I am so sorry to crash - but I would take a step back and just remember that she most likely has NO idea that this would offend you, unless she's been through IF herself. Yes, of course it was insensitive, but unless she has a history of this kind of behavior, I don't think she meant it as anything other than a sincere get well wish from herself and your future niece/nephew. It's also possible that she doesn't realize that IVF is not a guarantee that you'll get pregnant - she may just assume it's only a matter of time before you're pregnant too and feeling very hopeful.

Yes there is a history. Thanks for the advice though. I can be level headed enough to realize that this was certainly not a well thought out plot against me. But I know through past experiences that she knows better when it comes to other people.

No worries and thanks for sharing your opinion. I wasn't offended that you suggested I take another look at the situation. I hear hormones make you emotional  so it's best to keep things in check.

it was prob. not her best judgement, but I doubt it was meant to harm. At first I thought you meant she signed ONLY from an unborn baby which I thought was beyond wierd, but it sounds like she signed everyones names in the family, and her family is her unborn child right now that she is excited about I am sure.
Yes, I'd be a little sad about it, but realize the harm was not intentional. I am sorry.

I would definitely be REALLY upset if I was you, that was every insensitive. But if there is one thing I have learned in the last 2 months since We found out that we had a problem, is that people without a problem just don't get it. I completely believe that until you have IF issues you don't realize how much certain things you say and do can hurt people. This... I feel was bad judgement and was not meant to be mean.... doesn't change how it makes you feel, as all of us would be hurt by that too.
People just don't get it

I agree with you of course that someone should be allowed to be excited about their baby no matter what other people are going through. I would've rather received nothing than a card that was more about someone else's good fortune than my well-being. Nothing was written in the card except the names, an exclamation point was added to the GET BETTER that was printed in the card.

I agree with you...NOT the right time/place to emphasize her pregnancy. She SHOULD have given you that consideration in this difficult time for you, and I am sorry she didn't. I can only hope there was no ill intention, just bad judgement.
Anyway, I wish you much luck as you move forward
