attire for black tie wedding
We live OOS and were invited to a wedding in NY on a Saturday evening that said "black tie optional" on the invite...
I have to admit that I am not the greatest when it comes to fashion and what to wear/not to wear etc. So, I don't know if what I have is good? I have a black dress knee length that doesn't have any sparkles on it etc. but, I have very dressy earrings and I plan to get dressy pumps. It's a dress from Ann Taylor I am borrowing...
Do you think it's dressy enough? I don't want to stick out that I am not dressy enough, but since we're traveling, I don't really have the $ for something too expensive..
Do you think what I have is good? or should I look for something? If so, can you recommend some place that is not too much $?

I think that is totally fine - like you said - just add some fancy accessories and shoes! I would be much more concerned if it were regular "black tie" as opposed to "black tie optional."

I think that's fine. If it was a 'black tie affair' I would say you should go with a gown, but since it's 'black tie optional', I think you will see many knee length dresses.
