I'm getting keratin tomorrow! UPDATED 6/4/12
What do I need to know? Some people have told me that I can't cause any creases or kinks in my hair by tucking it behind my ears (an awful habit of mine) and I can't wash it for a few days. Is that true? Or is that only for JHS? Also what kind of shampoo/conditioner do I need to buy?
UPDATE: So I got the Keratin done on 6/2 and so far I LOVE IT! I haven't washed it yet and it has been as hard to keep from tucking behind my ears as I thought it would be. Because there is no frizz I don't feel like it's in my face all the time so I am not tucking at all. I want to wash it, but can't until tomorrow. So far, I'm doing okay with that. LOVE IT! I'll try to post pictures tonight when I get home from work.

Re: I'm getting keratin tomorrow!
I'm sure whoever is doing the keratin for you will go over all the rules. but most you can't wash your hair for 2-4 days, depending on the product. you can't touch or play with your hair, though i have used a clip and gently clipped in a ponytail to keep it out of my face. i get the keratin complex shampoo and conditioner by coppolla because that is what my salon sells.

Re: I'm getting keratin tomorrow!
dont wash it for minimum 2 days. Try not to use a clip or pony tail. I normally put it up after 2 days. If it gets wet, just flat iron it straight again.
I never could stand the smell of it, so I would always wash it after day 2.
just make sure to buy a SODIUM CHLORIDE free shampoo/cond... not SULFATE free.
Coppola is good, and target sells it too for $20

Re: I'm getting keratin tomorrow!
basically, the way you put your hair when the keratin is in it is supposedly the way it will stay. so if you tuck it behind your ears and leave it like that, it supposedly can stay like that. same goes for tying it back with an elastic.
that said, i will sometimes put an elastic very loosely on my hair, to hold it off my face when i am eating, etc
but i always go over it with my flat iron to take away any inadvertent crimps from sleeping, etc

I am a psycho - I don't wash for days - even though I get the one day keratin. I don't clip back in any way for a week, even though it drives me insane. lol Not necessary to spend $$$ on shampoo/conditioner. All the drugstores sell the Organix Brand - I get their Keratin treatment shampoo and conditioner - they are sodium and sulfate free and cost around $8 each.

Def can use the Organix. L'oreal makes a sulfate free line too that is good to use. There is so much out there. Even Suave makes a line.

For keratin, you should be more concerned about using a shampoo that is sodium chloride FREE - if it's sulfate free, that's even better.
Sodium chloride (salt) causes the Keratin to diminish, while the sulfate causes your color to diminish.
