Getting an appraisal

How do you go about getting an appraisal for your home that you already own? How much does it cost?

A friend of mine is going through a divorce.
She was denied due to credit. She was told that a couple of months of paying bills on time and she could get the refinance.

What if she gets denied again? Is it possible to to ty ake out a home equity line of credit to buy her X out? How do you actually get his name off the mortgage/deed?

we paid $385 for an appraisal when we refinanced recently. the bank we were working with called in the appraiser. I'm sorry i can't answer your other questions, it sounds like it may be a good idea for your friend to contact a lawyer to try and figure out her situation and how to take possession of the house.
