BTDT moms - stitches?
Hey ladies!
I had my DD on 4/24/12. I got 1 stitch. My OB said that it would fall out on its own after 2 weeks. Well, it has been 5 weeks and it still hasn't fallen out. I had DH look to make sure it was still there (gross, I know). Well, I called my OB's office and they said that as long as its not red or swollen to just wait for it to fall out. It just seems to weird to me that it hasn't fallen out yet!
Has this happened to anyone else - or have you heard about this happening?
TIA!

Re: BTDT moms - stitches?
Episiotomy stitch? Or from a tear?
Mine didn't heal right but I was cut and tore in a v, second degree, but the stitches all eventually came out on their own. Do you sit in Epsom salt baths? That helped the healing a lot.

Thanks for the reply!
It was a tear. It is so weird..it feels fine..its not bothering me at all. It feels like its healed..but the stitch is still there. I never did an epsom bath. Should I at this point? I just want the stitch out. It just bothers me to know its still there whwen it should have fallen out 3 weeks ago.
I am going for my regular ob check up next week and she is gonna check it out.

Re: BTDT moms - stitches?
I'd honestly rather have the stitches stay in as long as they need to heal it all. But my stitches took HOURS to put in, it was that bad. Definitely see what your doc says. I think mine came out too soon and that could be part of why the healing wasn't happening right. A bath in warm Epsom salts could help dissolve it a bit. I had to do two baths a day for 15 min each for a week or so. It was a pita because I just wanted to sleep not sit in a bath.
