Ice cream buffet
I'm doing a 40th bday for DH. Besides the cake I'm going to have ice cream (his favorite dessert!). I was going to do a sundae bar, but now I'm considering doing an assortment of ice cream choices that you'd get from the ice cream truck (I'd rent one of the push-carts for ice cream so people would "get" it).
And so you get the feel for the party, the food will all be casual type stuff...a wings bar, nacho bar, hot dog bar (rented cart too), and a pizza bar.
What do you think?

Re: Ice cream buffet
I think it's a cute idea.
However, I'd also throw in some healthier food options, such as salads and such.
And maybe regular old fresh fruit for dessert.

Re: Ice cream buffet
I LOVE the idea of your own "ice cream cart" because it fits your theme!! (of the rented hot dog cart, a nacho bar, wing bar, etc.) It will also be messier and harder to make sure everything is fully stocked if you chose to do a make your own sundae bar. I think you should get a variety of individual ice cream bars (plus, if you have left over- since they are wrapped they don't go to waste).
My favorite ice creams to buy from the ice cream truck are: -snickers -chocolate chip sandwiches (known as the chipwich) -creamsicles -oreo bar (never had it, but saw it on the good humor website and it looks awesome) -haagen dazs bars -maybe you should have some various ices/popsicles as well

Re: Ice cream buffet
Love the idea, but I do agree that I'd have some healthier options available as well.

Re: Ice cream buffet
Thanks everybody. I'll add a salad at the pizza station, and have fruit with the dessert.

LOVE!
I did a banana split bar at my son's 1st birthday party and it was more a hit with the adults than with the kiddies! Let me know if you want any ideas from that

Re: Ice cream buffet
I've got the cart coming. I ordered: Drumstick cones, Creamsicles, ice cream sandwiches, Rocketship popsicles, Strawberry Shortcake bars, Weight Watchers Oreo bars and 1 other I can't remember.
Oh yea, I also decided to add a chicken taco addition to the nacho bar.
