We did this two years ago ... call National Grid... they will recommend a place then ( I would get a second opinion on cost) call another place .... plumber that does this type of stuff but make sure they are Grid approved. It ran us about $8-$9 k. We also already had a gas fireplace, stove and grill.

Re: Coverting from oil to gas?

I would suggest call around to a few plumbers for estimates. The plumber I spoke said he would call National grid ( I believe it takes 4 to 6 weeks) for them to come out to you. The permit was also going to taken care of by the plumber.

I havent' done this just yet, I'm hoping to close within the next two weeks and this is one of the first things I plan on working on. Right now National Grid had a sale on their equipment until the end of June so you may want to take advantage of it.

Let me know how it works out. Good Luck.

Re: Coverting from oil to gas?

We just converted in February! We also had gas in the house.

To start with, call Nat'l Grid so they know you are looking into converting. They have incentive offers....$$$$ rebates! You want to get on the list to get offers by mail.

Nat'l Grid can recommend ppl to do the conversion. I had several of their ppl come over. Apparently, it's easy to get on "the Nat' Grid list" The plumbers/companies just pay and sign something. So Nat'l Grid is not really recommending them, it's more like a referral service.

I had MANY MANY estimates. I can tell you about all of them if it will help you. We were so happy with the company we used. I'd be happy to answer any questions, just send me FM.

BEST DECISION WE MADE! WE ARE SO HAPPY WE CONVERTED!
