Disneyland California
Has anyone been here instead of Disneyworld? We've been to Disneyworld many times and I was just wondering about Disneyland? We've also never been to California so I thought it would be fun.
What kind of airfare are we looking at? We're in NC, but what is that average airfare r/t?
What else is there to do in California?

Re: Disneyland California
We are huge disneyland fans and just got back from there a few weeks ago. It is much smaller than the Magic Kingdom in Florida, but actually has more attractions. The best thing about DL vs WDW is if you stay at one of the 3 Disney hotels or even one of the good neighbor hotels off site, you do not need transportation of any kind. You can walk right from your hotel to both parks and downtown disney. California Adventure, the other Disney park is located right across from the entrance to Disneyland so you can walk from one park to the other within minutes. I don't have kids but I see what a hassle the bus system is in WDW when dealing with strollers and packed busses. I love the convenience of everything being in one place in Disneyland.

Re: Disneyland California
I have - but many years ago back before California Adventure. We stopped in California for 2 days on the way home from Hawaii to break up the flight. I loved it and would love to go back especially since there is a second park now that I haven't experienced. I would love to plan a trip to California someday and take the girls to disneyland. I like the fact that they have several rides that WDW does NOT have that are really cute. I also love that some of the same rides that you find in both parks are somewhat different so it is fun to notice the differences. I'm not sure I would go all the way to CA just to hit disneyland - but I think it would be really nice to plan a nice 1-2 week trip and maybe start up in San Fran and then drive down the coast hit everything from LA and disneyland, carmel, etc to San Diego. That is basically the trip I took with my family and still remember a lot of it.

Re: Disneyland California
We've been to both and I prefer Disneyland because it's more more manageable. We do both Disneyland and California Adventure in one day. You literally walk across to the other park. I love California Adventure because it's really geared toward Pixar films and they have a great Monsters Inc ride. CA is but better than Hollywood Studios IMO.

Re: Disneyland California
This is a trip we are thinking of planning within the next 2-3 years. Cannot wait! I LOVE WDW and FL, but, want to experience "The other side" (a.k.a the west coast) LOL.

Re: Disneyland California
We go every year when we visit MIL out west.
I like it b/c like others have said - much smaller and more manageable, yet has tons for you to do. Everything is so accessible and you don't have to eat on disney property.
I would imagine airfare is ~$300-500/each for you.
LA is huge, so what can't you do there? beach, museums, universal, legoland, etc...

Re: Disneyland California
Adventures By Disney just announced the "Lights, Camera, Magic" tour. It's an all day guidedtour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, including a tour of Walt Disney Studios. it's pricey, but it seems amazing!
I'd look to spent at least 3 days just exploring Disneyland/California Adventure and then there's a lot to do in the surrounding areas. Disneyland has some packages that include other attractions
