Hey I am new..
Hey everyone....DH and I are thinking about buying a house but having a hard time to figure out where to look.
We both are from brooklyn and both families are here also....We would love to live in brooklyn but we dont feel like the schooling is great and really want to think about the future when we do have kids....
So we were thinking about li but have no idea where to look.....We would like to be not to far from brooklyn...I do need to be close to the lirr in order to get to work in the city...
If anyone can help by giving me ideas of where to look that would be great

Re: Hey I am new..
Hi, and welcome!
I am a full-time realtor, and I work all over Long Island. A lot of the customers I work with have made the transition from the city to Long Island.
I would be happy to consult with you - no obligation! - to discuss your home buying criteria and answer any questions you may have about specific towns or areas.
My bio and contact info is in the business directory, and I also post a blog on this site. I've worked with several LIF members, so if you search for my name, you will read some reviews from my former customers.
Feel free to reach out anytime - I am always glad to provide info or answer questions. You can reach me by FM on this site, or directly at [email protected] or (516) 587-7618.

Re: Hey I am new..
Your best bet would be to look at the South Shore of LI due to its proximity to Brooklyn. Your budget (house and tax) would really be a huge determining factor when considering towns in Long Island. Also inprortant is how much time you are willing to spend commuting?
You definately should consult with Christine to assist you in this process. She will walk you through the process begininng to end-from trying to select a town that meets your needs to giving you advice on paint colors after you close. She was so helpful and instrumental in helping us select our house. She is truthful and knowledgeable, as well.

Every area has different things that are good and bad. It's really based on what you are willing to spend and what type of house you are looking for.
Moving from Brooklyn to LI was a big adjustment for me. I'm still adjusting and it's been 5 years! lol But I understand what you say about BK not being what it used to.... Not the best for schools. I know they closed a few High Schools already.
Good luck in your search. I liked using ZipSkinny.com. You put different zip codes in and see what the neighborhoods are like. How many own vs rent, how old everyone is, children, how many schools are in the zones, etc etc etc. I found it helpful.
