Question for teachers
How did you deal with having to use the bathroom constantly?
I teach first grade, so the only down time I have is lunch and my prep. After lunch I am in my room from 11:45-3:00 and I have no para or TA.
I feel like I have to pee like at least 2 times in that time frame. What do/did you normally do?
Also, I noticed that lately I am starving throughout the day. I can't really start snacking or eating while I'm teaching, so what do/did you guys do?

Re: Question for teachers
I give you so much credit for what you do. I teach H.S and I don't know how I would be able to make it without having a break in between periods. Periods 1-3 I teach straight. I go right before first period to empty my bladder. Then I go again after 2nd- I lock my room and the kids just have to wait (then again, these are juniors so they can stand in the hall unsupervised) I try to schedule my drinking time around when I know I can pee lol. Are there any other teachers, aides, etc. close by? Maybe you can talk to them about covering your class once ina while for 5 mins? I would try to appeal to a BTDT mom in the school who will understand where you are coming from! As for food, I also snack in between periods. I also snack when the kids are working indepdently. Something like dry cereal or grapes is good because you can pick at it over a period of time. Or try snacking on something high protein when you have a few minutes so that will hold you over longer.
I taught middle school two years ago and taught from 8:30-12 STRAIGHT. If that were by situation while pregnant I would just hook up with other teachers. We all understand that one of the downfalls of teaching is scheduling your pee breaks around your teaching schedule.

Re: Question for teachers
When I have to go without a break/lunch, I go next door and ask my "neighbor" to watch my class for a few minutes
I eat when I get hungry but try to limit it to when its snack time for my students or when they are working on something independently so its not like I'm flaunting that I'm eating

Re: Question for teachers
We ask neighboring teachers to watch. Luckily my neighboring classroom has 2 teachers.
