Lease question?

Our lease is on a year to year basis. It was up March 1. We have yet to hear from the landlord. We've been here over 2 years already and last year he forgot so we had to remind him of the new lease a month after it was up. It's now mid May and so far we haven't heard anything? I can't find a copy of our lease? We got it before we moved and now I can't find it. On either side, there has to be a 60 day notice on whether they want to raise the rent, or we want to move, etc. There was something in there about month to month, but we can't remember.

I am just curious on everyone's opinion on what they would assume/think? Since we have not signed a new lease and our's was up on March 1, that it's just month to month right now or something else? It's not a continuous lease. We don't want to contact the landlord because we don't know what we want to do yet? I thought if it was month to month that it was going to cost extra? I'm not sure?
