1/2 day in Orlando - Worth a Park?

I think my DH and I are going to take an extended weekend to Orlando to check out the Harry Potter part of Universal. I'm so excited! Been wanting to go since it opened.

We are going to be there for a solid 3 days and go to Universal, Island and Magic Kingdom, each one for a full day.

My question is, what should we do on our travel day upon arrival? Figure we land, get a car and get to the hotel by 2 if we are lucky. Parks stay open until about 8 or 9 in September. Is it worth it to hit a park for a half day? And if so which one? Maybe Epcot or Hollywood? Should we just go to Downtown Disney and forget spending $80+ for a few hours somewhere?

TIA for any advice.

I would just go to DTD and walk around the shops and grab dinner....

I do think half a day at a park is worth the price. However, I would not do it on the day of arrival.

We relaxed by the pool when we arrived in Orlando. No way would I have wanted to go to the parks.

ITA, I would do this too or just lounge around at the pool and sleep early so you can get up early and beat the crowd at Universal. It makes such a big difference going there when the park first open...

I would go to EPCOT. if it's late September it will be the food and wine festival. Future World thins out a bit at night and of course there's all of World Showcase to enjoy.

i just discovered that night MK is having the Mickey's not so scary Halloween from 7-Midnight so we might just do that and go to Epcot and/or Hollywood the day I had planned for MK. So much to think about. But so excited!

Thanks for all the advice!

half a day - Animal Kingdom is do-able. In fact, I really believe you only need a half a day to get through the park.

While that is very true she isn't getting there until 2 and AK closes the earliest - better 1/2 morning. I would 100% do MNSSHP.
