What do you think?
I went to Bloomingdales today looking for a dress for my SIL wedding. I found a great deal on a beautiful dress. It was originally $372, marked down to $190, then 30% off, and an additional 15% off for using your card. I sent SIL a picture and she said it was beautiful. The problem is she also said that my MIL tried on the same dress. My SIL said it didn't look good on her, she was too short and round- her words not mine. I can't help but like the dress less now. I can't even see her and I liking the same thing. And now I'm worried that maybe the dress is too matronly. I can't find a picture, probably because it was on sale. But I'll try to describe it... It's a navy gown. It's v-neck with the top having a sheer overlay kind of beaded straps. It's rouched down to mid-thigh and then kind of has a mermaid bottom. I thought it was very sophisticated, but now I'm worried it's "old lady." Would you think the same thing if your MIL tried on the same dress as you, or am I just over analyzing?

Re: What do you think?
I would get the dress. It does not sound old lady to me. Perhaps MIL has wishful thinking and it was an inappropriate dress for her.

Re: What do you think?
I bet you never thought you'd be in this situation!
I'd still get it. (Disclaimer: my grandmother & I wore the same shoes for my wedding. )
Just b/c she tried it on doesn't mean it is matronly. Maybe she thought it looked youthful.
Maybe you should send the picture you sent to SIL to a friend that you trust & ask if she thinks it looks like an old lady dress.
