For people with their TV mounted above a fireplace
Where do you keep your cable box? We will also have either my husbands Xbox or DVD player.

Ours is over a radiator but we use a red eye. Red eye propped on Top of tv and the cable box is in our basement. DH fished the wires down to the basement in order to do this. As far as the DVD and box go I would store it somewhere in the LR in a cabinet or something and take out as needed.

What's a red eye? We have the same thing right now and the wires running everywhere in plain sight are driving me nuts. The fireplace is centered between two windows and there is no space for any type of cabinet.

We have a red eye too and the cable box is tucked away in a closet in the next room and my DH hid all the wires in the wall. All you see above the fireplace is the TV and 2 Bose speakers mounted. I love the clean look of it!

I have a red eye too
it's a tiny lit "red lit" which is wired behind walls to the tv and cable etc behind the wall.
I have my wires going down the inside of the wall into the basement and into the coat closet
I love it!

Can someone explain this red eye to me?
It's a little infra-red signal that will transport the signals to the cable box even if it is no where is sight. We point our remote at the red eye and it changes the channel from inside the closet. Sorry if my explanation makes no sense lol.

We don't have a fireplace but the wall we put our TV on in the pass through to the kitchen so we didn't want to put a unit there.
We have the same thing. The wires are run through the basement and the cable, DVR and PS3 are all in the kitchen pantry.
I also have Wii and you need to have that hooked onto the TV, so we mounted it behind the TV and put the thing that reads the remotes onto the bottom of the TV. Worked out perfect!
The boxes are in that small door on the right hand side of pic (Kitchen Pantry)

We have a red eye too put in our bedroom and the cable box is tucked away in our closet. It gives a very clean look. My DH hid all the wires in the wall. We also have a tv mounted on the fireplace and he will run an red eye to the cable and dvd in console cabinent at the back of the room. He does this for a living if you have any questions fm me.
