Question about going into labor?

I ask because with my first i was induced at 41 weeks. and never went into labor on my own...but is it true that labor can come on suddenly out of the blue..or does it normally start off with very light cramping?

Ugh, i'm just so anxious about possibly going into labor on my own.
I'm only 1 centimeter now, but that can change at any time..right?

I thought for sure i was going to go early this time, but now i'm not so sure anymore....i guess only time will tell.....

My labor came out of the blue . I was 4 days late but when I had my dr appt the same day I went into labor I was not dilated or effaced at all. I was scheduled for an induction on Monday that night I felt one really strong cramp went to go to the bathroom and when I stood up my water broke. I had zero signs just a few hours before I went into labor.

with my first - i was walking around 1cm dilated from 36-38 weeks, and then 3cm....
i didnt have any cramps.
my water broke 2 days before my Due date.
i checked into the hopsital, still 3cm dilated - they wanted to induce me since i didnt have contractions.... i asked my doc to wait they said theyll let me labor on my own and 4 hours later i gave brith without many contractions, all natural.

i am almost 39 weeks now, 2cm dilated.
and ive had contractions (last night for hrs , 2o seconds every 4-5 minutes but then they stopped) and i am having them now again. but reallly mild (like menstrual cramps)
so who knows --- things can change at any time :)

This is what scares me... The unknown. I wish it was the same for everyone so id know what to look for.

with my 1st - it came out of nowhere!

my 2nd - been having cramping and contractions for a few weeks. The morning i went into labor it came on suddenly and fast. THere was no indication the night before.

This is what scares me... The unknown. I wish it was the same for everyone so id know what to look for.

I went into labor with #2. I went to bed one night feeling fine and woke an hour later in labor. It came on fast and strong. I was at 7 cm by the time I checked into the hospital 2 hours later.

With my st I didnt know I was in labor. I was 8 days late and went for my 2nd non stress test and when we got there they asked if I knew that I was in labor. So they kept me there and right before they were gona break my water it broke on its own.

My labor was completely out of the blue, I never had cramping. I had one big contraction at 2am and they increased from there. I was 9 days past due. 8 days before I was not dilated at all.

Mine came out of the blue, but in the first few hours it felt like bad PMS cramps. The contractions got more intense and more regular over time. It's *usually* not like the movies where the woman has one contraction, screams, and out pops a baby. (I wish...).

eta: I was 1cm dilated and had no progress until the morning I went into labor.

Mine came out of nowhere. I was 13 days late and only a fingertip dilated. I had a really big dinner (at Outback) and thought that my braxton hicks were a kind of painful bc I was so full. When I tried to go to sleep I ended up staring at the clock and realized they were coming every 7 minutes consistently. I had DD at 9pm the next night.
